UNGUBANI USISHIMANE?

Mphumeleli Aubrey Ngidi was born in the tragedic year of floods on 17 October 1987 at 2:56am at King Edward Hospital, Durban.
Born via the womb of inkosazane yakwaNduli by the name of Thokozisile. Mphumeleli grew up in both the area of eMaphephetheni, Ndwedwe, and Matabetulu eNanda. The year 1994 saw Mphumeleli setting his foot for the first time at school. Very shy but confident Mphumeleli grew the skills of artistry through ukudweba whilst attending Hlengimpilo and Mcetshwa Primary Schools.

His high school journey began in the new millenium, year 2000 at Mqhawe High School where he schooled until 2003. In these years Mphumeleli never dreamed of being a poet nor a writter. He achieved numerous awards for being the top History learner in different school terms.

In 2 004 Mphumeleli next destination became the dusty remote areas of Mgangeni, between Ixopo and Umzinto in the south of KwaZulu-Natal. He left his mother's family, uncles and friends and headed to his surname, Ngidi. This is where Mphumeleli is currently domiciled where he lives with his father, two step-mothers from poligamy, grandmother, 11 brothers and two sisters. Mphumeleli is the second eldest of his father's children.

In 2004 Mphumeleli attended Ukuthula High School and matriculated in 2005. Mphumeleli became one of the top learners to ever been produced by the school. He, here also, received numerous awards for his intelligence in his History, Biology, English and IsiZulu subjects. He became the school president of learners in 2005, established himself as the school best debater and most of all, represented the school in the Kokstad regional awards for his matric senior certificate results for obtaining 4 distinctions.

Throughout all these times it have never crossed his mind to become a writter of poetry or anything. In 2006 Mphumeleli was admitted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal as an undergraduate full-time student to study the LLB degree. He is currently doing his third year and resides at Ansell May male residence.

SENZANI ISISHIMANE?

VAKASHELA UFACEBOOK ulobe lamagama: isishimane- imbongi yezishimane-the bachelor's poet.
WINTER VACATION STARTING FROM MID-JUNE TO AUGUST

Monday 16th June the YMCA poets will be visiting Cator Manor on their celebration of the youth day. We will be blessing the mic and preaching the spirit of ubuntu.

UKZN Medical School people from Olivier Residence you rock. Sartuday 24 May I, Sbu, Lungile and Shanna were invited to their end of the semester party to bless the show with the spoken word. Even when electricity cutted off they digged candles from their rooms and lit the house for us to recite and the house was jam-packed. Thanks also for choosing me as the poet of the day although I dislike poetry to be weighed and judged because we speak our minds. THANK YOU MEDICAL SCHOOL

I would like to voice my special thanks to all who participated by articulating their minds or as part of the audience whereby the YMCA poetry evening together with poets from DUT & Westvill were showcasing their talent of mouth outside SU building, Howard College, on Thursday the 15th of May 2008. May God extend your living ...

Thanks to the Springfield poetry evening for their invitation on Thursday I enjoyed the audience.
I'm no longer going to DUT since the exams are now around the corner.
I will be attending YMCA and Springfield poetry evenings final sessions this week.
heeh kill the poet but his words remain.

Isishimane recites at Howard College poetry evening on Wednesdays.

Anyway I've long been courting this chick ...
she doesn't concur with any term I state... girl you'll
miss me sorry about my Engilish it not my mother
tongue it my mother's teeth eehe

AUGUST UPDATE

WELCOME BACK TO THE SECOND SEMESTER
I'm now in Durban readying myself for the second round of the of my Law studies. The first week I will be sorting out my time table and the room stuff.

The first week heh! Kuyozwakala I will be everywhere rhyming and feeding the masses through my poetry.

YMCA POETRY EVENING

The poetry evening hosted by the YMCA South Africa which is held every Wednesday from 18h00 till late will kickstart from this week, the 06th of August 2008.

The evening is a platform for all perfoming artists with an emphasis on poetry, stand-up comedy and music. It is an open mic. We register your name, call your trademark and you bless the mic, honour the podium and entertain the easily entertained audience with your performance which can either be poetry, stand-up comedy, a musical instrument to play or be part of the audience.

FRIDAY the 8th I will be reciting at the poetry session hosted by POUR A TREE POETRY SOCIETY that happens every Fridays. It is also an open mic with a take no-nonsense crowd. One needs to be strong there but one learns a lot from the session.

Mqhawe High School at Inanda I'm coming there. Although not sure of the date but surely its during the week starting from the 11th of August.

IMIBONO YABAFUNDI

Subject: Imbongi
"Kuhamba kanjani mbongi, ngithi angikubingelele nje. Qhubeka ubhale ntwana yami, but a word of advice: try also writing poems which are about the concerns of the society and shy away from personifying your poems i.e. mostly talking of isishimane. Anyways good luck with your poetry career hope you will grow to greater heights."

From Mfundo Nkosi, facebook friend and a fan of poetry

"hhay! bo sengikuvumile mjita uyisivunguvungu ngigcwele. lol sishimane esiyiciko lokukhuluma sho bro. keep intouch"

From Mhlengi Ngidi- Facebook friend from Morningside

"Hey skhokho, I've visitted your blog and I real enjoy read your poems, but mfethu the colour sometimes it does work for me. (like some few tips njenganomuntu owenza i journalism you must be careful about the colour that use) Ya kufanele i fithe kwi theme yakho. since you talk more about love just use some romantic(love) colours. Because the one u used made it difficult to read the poems. bengingakunika ama tips amaningana but ngiyaphuthuma check another article of mine about ANC culture. www.ghettoverit.wordpress.com
good work Hlomuka ume njalo"

my outie i really love yor poetry ,moreover it made me to realise that there is so much to life ,so the main obligation we have as people during our lifetime is to honour god ,that would certainly place us on the most fortunate position to leave an ever lasting legacy (respect)

MASTER, A fellow poet and friend

once more u dissappointed me big time ,remember the day i told u i love poetry more than anything else ,that could be shown by the fact that i am prepared to come all the way from westville to watch u perform ( i and i expect magic from u everytime u grace the stage) last year u were so magical ,can u please bring back those glory days ,lastly i love the idea(pertaining wall printing) outside su, i would be there to bless the mic ,laslty mfana for the sake of poetry i think u should arrange a meeting for all the commitee members(cause i hate being a liability i would love to outline my proposed tasks and line of operations so that everbody would know on what i plan to offer(believ me i want to make this thing work) brother u are so talented ( i am just a victim of politicsand jelousy) see u on sunday ** those underprivillege kids of banana city they need us

Master in this comment refers to my poor perfomance on one evening. Thanks for constructive advice qhawe

Hi Mphumeleli

Sounds like a great idea. Our group is called POETS CORNER Under the umbrella of CDA Arts and Culture of which Thabo Kunene is a director and I am the chairperson. I was just thinking of how I could get hold of the poetry club in Howard. We used to come to Howard last year at YMCA I think, but we haven't this year.

We do not normally have poetry evenings but we hold our meetings on Wednesdays and Fridays from 14:30 to 17:00. We are also having a special poetry evening on the 20th of May. I will forward to you complete details of the programme. PLz DO SHARE this information with the rest of izimbongi, we would love to have you guys participating on this day.

Lets keep in touch - and keep umoya wobumbongi moving.
